My name is Eric Tatepo Kembo.
I live in Brussels and I am into helping end users by troubleshooting and maintaining systems as well as networks collaborating with engineers and technicians.
Besides computers, I learn all sort of guitar pieces as well improvising and creating music with that instrument.
method
A method is set of ordered processes to demonstrate or achieve an outcome. It first answers a practical question : in order to achieve a given goal, what to do and how to do it ?
Methodical experience begins the moment you focus your attention. Then, the exercise of will should lead to a specific goal.
Memory
Memorising depends on the interest of having to re-use the information later. We need repetition to consolidate the neural circuit. Between neurons, neurotransmitters will multiply in order to consolidate it. Information will then be anchored and stay longer.
Short term : frequently requested in daily activities
Long term : serves to remember all the significant events in our existence
Semantics : meaning of words
Procedural : manual habits.
set a goal
Specific : detail the objective
Measurable : It is necessary to be able to measure progress in order to be satisfied that we have achieved it, in order to be more motivated for the next one.
Accessible : do not set the standard too high.
Realistic : do not overestimate yourself in order to avoid frustration.
Temporal : must be defined in time, find the right balance.
SMART method is used to keep motivation intact.
Take some notes
In a training, it is also important to note your mistakes. Notes are a reference used as a backup to retrieve information at will.
- read the notes before starting the course, use abbreviations as you wish as long as you can re-read them
- verbal signs : repetition, insistence of the trainer
- non-verbal language :raised tone, interrogative tone, etc
- ask questions.
Taking notes forces attention and concentration but remains a draft that allows you to sort information by keeping what is relevant, which will serve to reactivate your memory.
use a visual tool
Mind mapping is an extremely effective tool for extracting and storing information by combining the use of the right (creative) and left (logical) hemispheres. It is a creative and logical method of taking notes and recording ideas by representing ideas graphically to avoid linear enumeration.
Prioritising
A strategy is prioritising to become more productive.
Let’s organise tasks according to 4 criterias.
- critical, crucial, you need to do immediately : do it
- important but not urgent, you can schedule it : decide it
- urgent, but not important : delegate it
- not urgent and not important : ignore it.
By knowing how to differentiate between important activities from urgent activities, we overcome our natural tendency to focus on the immediate (“non-important but urgent” activities), to be immersed in stimuli, and thus create some time to do what is essential.
Important activities allow us to progress in our objectives, whether professional or personal.
Urgent activities require immediate attention, and are often linked to the objectives of others.
It is generally the “urgent” activities on which we focus all our attention, since the consequences of not carrying out these tasks are immediate and likely to be negative.
For example : telephone calls, notifications and external solicitations.
procrastination
Obstacles that lead to it are : unclear objective, lack of organisation, not knowing how to say no”, interruptions, too many things at once (segmenting), stress and fatigue, not having time to relax.
note
Take time to read statements before and after work is done. Avoid handing a job without proofreading it.
